How great are our pets!
A page dedicated to the benefits of pets, article and fun stuff
Our Pets+Corner project is a dedicated page covering all things pets. Our initial focus is on dogs and cats. We’ll explore the ongoing evidence that supports positive health impacts that pets bring. We’ll cover regular articles about our pets, their behaviour, tips & tricks, exclusive offers and our Pets+Storyboard.
And of course, you can’t have a dedicated pets page without a range of fun toys, accessories and products for our favourite animals!
If you own a pet and have a funny story to share – get in touch with us and share it with the 60+Club community! Or if you think your pet is the cutest (or ugliest), send us a picture.

The positive relationship
between a pet & happiness
Most of us have experienced the joy of playing with a furry friend, and pets are a rewarding way to bring more laughter and joy into your life. But did you know that having a pet is good for your mental and physical health? Studies show that pets can protect you depression, stress, and even heart disease.
Benefits of pet therapy and mental health
A wide range of mental health conditions are now treated through pet-therapy programs. Interactions with animals are considered to offer benefits to patients suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, autism, and challenging psychiatric disorders.
Pets provide an increase to happiness levels
Elderly residents who are exposed to pets have been shown to be measurably more alert and prone to smiling more than those not similarly exposed. Physical aggression has been lessened and tolerance levels have increased markedly.
Animals play an important role in many people’s lives. Some research studies have found that people who have a pet have healthier hearts, stay home sick less often, make fewer visits to the doctor, get more exercise, and are less depressed. Pets may also have a significant impact on allergies, asthma, social support, and social interactions with other people. In the publication “A long-term study of elderly people in nursing homes with visiting and resident dogs”, three nursing homes in Brisbane took part in a study, each with either a resident or a visiting dog.
